Mr. Waheed Mujda is a recognized authority on the Taliban, Al Qaeda, Hizb-e Islami and extremism. He is frequently asked to comment in the Afghan media in this capacity. Previously, Mr. Mujda served as the Middle East desk officer in the Taliban‟s foreign ministry. He also worked with other jihadi parties and was at one point a member of Afghanistan‟s other insurgent party, Hizb-e Islami.

Dr. Farqoo Ansari, a founding member of Afghanistan Strategic Research and Studies Center, has published many books on Afghanistan history and has written for a variety of scholary journals, both domestic and international. He has a Ph.D in history.

Joma Khan Mohammadi, works in Kabul Center’s Parliamentary Research Service division and his areas of interest include human rights, Islamic movements, and parliament.  Mr. Mohammadi has a Master’s in Sociology and Islamic Studies and is a university lecturer.

Mohammad Shafaq Khawati, Kabul Center’s Democratic Institution Building and Islamism Project, is an expert on domestic and regional socio-politics; anti-corruption; and conflict management.  He holds a Master’s in Sociology and Islamic Studies and is a university lecturer. 

 

 Dr.Thomas Waldman, Kabul Center’s Counter-terrorisma  and Conflict management Project, is an expert on counterinsuregency warfare theories.  He holds a PhD in international studies and politics from Warwick University.

Background: Research intern with the National Democratic Institute’s project for Legal Affairs Committee of the Afghan Parliament and skill-building organizations. 

Narges Parsa 

Areas of interest: National Security; Foreign Policy; India. 

Background: Ms. Parsa is a journalist and the editor-in-chief of the Persian weekly, Nagahe Afghani. She holds a Bachelor’s in Political Science and International Relations. 

Sultan Ali Rahimi 

Areas of interest: Counter-Corruption; Islamic Movements and Ideologies. 

Background: Author of several publications on Islamic Movements and the Anti-Soviet Jihad in Afghanistan.  Mr. Rahimi has a Bachelor’s in Philosophy and Sociology from Kabul University. 

Mohd. Ibrahim Shafaq 

Areas of interest: Democratic Institution Building; Afghan politics; Ethnocentricism, Central Afghanistan. 

Background: Bachelor’s in Sociology, Bamiyan University.
